All About Organic Whole Mace:

Mace is a yellowish-brown spice that is derived

from the dried lacy coating of the nutmeg seed.

It has a sweet, woody, and warm taste, with a slight pungent kick, similar to nutmeg but softer and not as sweet. It is commonly found in spice blends and baked goods, as well as savoury dishes.

Mace powder offers a large number of health benefits, one of them helping with digestive issues such as bloating, constipation, trapped gas, and nausea. It can also increase blood circulation and

has anti-inflammatory properties.

Instructions for Use:

Mace is a warm and aromatic spice which is similar

to nutmeg but less sweet and more intense. It’s frequently used in desserts such as bread pudding, custards, cakes, cookies, and beverages.

However, it’s also great for savoury dishes like pies, soups, and gratins.

Storage Instructions:

Store in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat and damp.

Nutmeg Fresh Premium Quality

Jaiphal or Javriti Nutmeg and mace have similar taste qualities, nutmeg having a slightly sweeter and mace a more delicate flavour. Mace is often preferred in light coloured dishes for the bright orange, saffron like colour it imparts. Nutmeg is a flavourful addition to cheese sauces and is best grated fresh.

In Sri Lanka cuisine, nutmeg powder is used almost exclusively in sweet dishes. It is known as Jaiphal in most parts of Sri Lanka and mostly used in small quantities in garam masala.

In Middle Eastern cuisine, nutmeg powder is often used as a spice for savoury dishes. In Arabic, nutmeg is called Jawz at Tiyb.

In Greece and Cyprus nutmeg is called moschokarydo (Greek: “nut that smells nice”) and is used in cooking and savoury dishes.

In European cuisine, nutmeg and mace are used especially in potato dishes and in processed meat products; they are also used in soups, sauces and baked goods. In Dutch cuisine nutmeg is quite popular, it is added to vegetables like Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and string beans.

Nutmeg is a traditional ingredient in mulled cider, mulled wine, and eggnog.
